How to connect my SiteGround domain with Short.io

If you have acquired a domain from SiteGround, you should follow some activation steps in order to connect the domain with Short.io and use it for link shortening.

Important note

If you use it as the main domain for your website - please configure a subdomain instead.

SiteGround configurations


  1. Sign in to your SiteGround account.

  2. From the Dashboard navigate to Services:

  3. Find the Domains section and click on Manage. Your domains are displayed:

  4. Click on Settings for the domain you want to configure.

  5. In the next screen navigate to DNS Zone Editor:

  6. In the Create New Record section:

    • select A as record type

    • provide a name

    • enter the Short.io IPv4 address - 207.174.61.1

    • select cache duration period (TTL)

  7. Click on Create.

    The record is added.

Short.io configurations


  1. Sign in to your Short.io account.

  2. Click on Add domain and then on Add own domain:

  3. Enter your domain name and click on This is empty short domain (sub-domain) just for links:

  4. Click on Add domain.

  5. Open the Domain settings and check if the domain is in status Active:

Important note

If the domain is Inactive then wait for a few hours and click on Refresh to check if the status has changed.

You will receive an email from the Short.io team informing you that the domain is now configured. Feel free to shorten your links and enjoy Short.io.
