How to connect my Porkbun domain with Short.io

If you have acquired a domain from Porkbun, you should follow some activation steps in order to connect the domain with Short.io and use it for link shortening.

Important note

If you use it as your main domain for your website - please configure a subdomain instead.

Porkbun configurations


  1. Sign in to your Porkbun account.

  2. In the Dashboard navigate to the Domain Management section:

  3. Mouse over the domain which you want to connect with Short.io and click on the DNS option that appears.

  4. In the Manage DNS Records screen scroll down to the Current records section and delete or disable all the unnecessary default records of type A, AAAA, ALIAS and CNAME.

  5. Fill in the following information and click on Add:

    • Type: A

    • Host: @

    • Answer: 207.174.61.1

    The new record should be visible in the Current records section.

Short.io configurations


  1. Sign in to your Short.io account.

  2. Click on Add domain and then on Add own domain:

  3. Enter your domain name and click on This is empty short domain (sub-domain) just for links:

  4. Click on Add domain.

  5. Open the Domain settings and check if the domain is in status Active:

Important note

If the domain is Inactive then wait for a few hours and click on Refresh to check if the status has changed.

You will receive an email from the Short.io team informing you that the domain is now configured. Feel free to shorten your links and enjoy Short.io.
