How to connect my Cloudflare domain with Short.io

If you have acquired a domain from Cloudflare, you should follow some activation steps in order to connect the domain with Short.io and use it for link shortening.

Important note

If you use it as the main domain for your website - please configure a subdomain instead.

Cloudflare configurations

---

1. Sign in to your Cloudflare account.

2. In the Dashboard click on Go to:

   

3. Enter DNS and click on the DNS option:

   

4. Click on the domain that you want to use to shorten links:

   

5. In the DNS records section navigate to the DNS management panel and delete or disable all the unnecessary default records of type A, AAAA, and CNAME if present.

6. Click on Add record:

   

7. Fill in the following information and click on Save:

   • Type: A

   • (Host) Name: @

   • IPv4 address: 207.174.61.1

   • Proxy status: disabled - to facilitate the issuance of the SSL certificate and therefore the activation of the domain

   

   The record is added to your domain settings.

Short.io configurations

---

1. Sign in to your Short.io account.

2. Click on Add domain and then on Add own domain:

   

3. Enter your domain name and click on This is empty short domain (sub-domain) just for links:

   

4. Click on Add domain.

5. Open the Domain settings and check if the domain is in status Active:

Important note

If the domain is Inactive then wait for a few hours and click on Refresh to check if the status has changed.

You will receive an email from the Short.io team informing you that the domain is now configured. Feel free to shorten your links and enjoy Short.io.
