How to connect my Porkbun subdomain with Short.io

It is not necessary to register a new domain name for shortening links if you own one that works properly. Create a subdomain using a domain you already have.

Note

Before using Porkbun for a subdomain, enable the service for your main domain.

When your main domain is active in Porkbun, add a subdomain.

Porkbun configurations

  1. Sign in to your Porkbun account.

  2. In the Dashboard navigate to the Domain Management section:

Porkbun Domain Management page with domain list

  3. Mouse over the domain which you want to connect with Short.io and click on the DNS option that appears.

  4. In the Manage DNS Records screen fill in the following information and click on Add:

    • Type: CNAME

    • Host: <your-subdomain-name>

    • Answer: cname.short.io

    For example:

Porkbun Manage DNS Records form with CNAME type and cname.short.io answer

The new record should be visible in the Current records section.
