How to connect my Gandi subdomain with Short.io

It is not necessary to register a new domain name for shortening links if you own one that works properly. Create a subdomain using a domain you already have.

Note

Before using Gandi for a subdomain, enable the service for your main domain.

When your main domain is active in Gandi, add a subdomain.

Gandi configurations

  1. Sign in to your Gandi account.

  2. In the left side panel, click on Domain and then on your domain name:

Gandi dashboard with Domain menu and domain name highlighted

  3. In the next screen click on the DNS records tab and then on Add record:

Gandi DNS Records tab with Add record button highlighted

  4. In the next screen select CNAME as record type:

  5. In the fields below provide the following information:

    • Name: <your-subdomain-name>

    • Hostname: cname.short.io.

    Note

Make sure you add a dot at the end of the Hostname in order for the record to function.
