# How to automatically connect my 1&1 Ionos subdomain with Short.io

## How to automatically connect your subdomain[​](#how-to-automatically-connect-your-subdomain "Direct link to How to automatically connect your subdomain")

1. Sign in to your [Short.io](https://short.io/) account.

2. Click on **Add domain** and then on **Add own domain**:

3. Enter your domain name and click on **This is domain I already use for website or blog**:

4. Select the option that suits you best for subdomain name and click on **Add domain**.

5. In the next screen, you can click on:

   * **Instruction**: if you decide to still perform a manual connection

   * **Configure**: if you want to continue with the automatic presets

6. When you click on **Configure**, the following message appears:

7. Click on **Confirm**. You are redirected to the Ionos login page.

8. After logging in, you can review the automatic presets on your dashboard:

9. Click on **Connect**. If the connection is successful the following message appears:

Then you are redirected again to the **Short.io** dashboard.

**Important note**

Configuring the connection takes time and you may still see the following message:

You can click on the refresh icon until the message disappears.

When the domain becomes active, feel free to shorten links and enjoy **Short.io**.
