# How to automatically connect my 1&1 Ionos domain with Short.io

## How to automatically connect your domain[​](#how-to-automatically-connect-your-domain "Direct link to How to automatically connect your domain")

1. Sign in to your [Short.io](https://short.io/) account.

2. Click on **Add domain** and then on **Add own domain**:

3. Enter your domain name and click on **This is empty short domain (sub-domain) just for links**:

4. Click on **Add domain**.

5. In the next screen, you can click on:

   * **Instruction**: if you decide to still perform a manual connection

   * **Configure**: if you want to continue with the automatic presets

6. When you click on **Configure**, the following message appears:

7. Click on **Confirm**. You are redirected to the Ionos login page.

8. After logging in, you can review the automatic presets by clicking on **Show how we will establish the connection**:

9. Click on **Connect**. If the connection is successful the following message appears:

   Then you are redirected again to the **Short.io** dashboard.

Note

Configuring the connection takes some time and you may still see the following message:

You can click on the refresh icon until the message disappears.

When the domain becomes active, feel free to shorten links and enjoy **Short.io**.
