How can I delete my domain?

Before removing your domain from Short.io, please consider the following:

Important note

For security reasons we do not allow you to delete a configured domain. The reason for that is the possibility for a malicious actor to perform domain takeover by adding deleted domain to their account. You need to visit your DNS provider and configure the domain to any other IP address.

Deleting your domain​

  1. Login to your registrar and disconnect the domain from Short.io - remove the DNS records pointing to cname.short.io and/or our IP address.

  2. In short.io, make sure the domain you want to delete is selected at the top of the page:

  3. Open Domain settings (Redirects tab) and navigate to the last section - Danger zone:

    To remove a domain, it should be marked as Inactive. If after removing the DNS records it remains active, click Refresh. Once the status shows Inactive, you may delete the domain.

  4. Click Delete domain.

  5. In the next dialog enter the name of the domain to be deleted:

  6. Click Delete.

The domain will be removed from your Dashboard and configurations.
